While everyone was focusing on the Republican National Convention, Barack Hussein Obama made a truly sickening move last week.
Ever since he took office, Obama has enjoyed freeloading off the American people by spending millions of our tax dollars on himself. Now, he’s making sure he’ll be able to continue doing this even after he leaves office…
Barack Obama is out of office in six short months, much to the country’s delight.
He has wrecked the nation in more ways than one, and will leave behind a legacy that makes Richard Nixon look like a schoolboy.
Before he leaves, Obama vetoed a bill that would’ve given him a pay cut.
Because he deserves all the money we give him after what he’s done?
In just the 11th veto of his time in office, President Obama on Friday rejected the “Presidential Allowance Modernization Act of 2016,” a bill which would have capped former presidents’ expense accounts at $200,000 a year and phased out presidential pensions for former executives who independently make at least $400,000 annually.
More from Washington Examiner:
“It would impose onerous and unreasonable burdens on the offices of former presidents, including by requiring the General Services Administration to immediately terminate salaries and benefits of office employees and to remove furnishings and equipment from offices,” Obama wrote in his veto message.
“My administration will work with the authors of the bill and other leaders in the Congress, in consultation with the offices of former presidents, to explore the best ways to achieve these goals going forward,” Obama said, adding that if his reforms are included, he will a sign a new draft of the bill.
Side note (kind of interesting)…
Presidents from 1956 to 1996 received lifetime Secret Service protection once they left the White House. Then, President Bill Clinton signed a law stating that all future (former) presidents would only receive protection for 10 years.
Of course, that didn’t apply to Bill – only to his successors.
44 signed new legislation mandating that he, George W. Bush, and and everyone else who follows will receive lifetime protection.
