The entire world is focused on the upcoming Olympics, and ISIS is already launching plans to destroy the event for everyone.
On Thursday, ten terrorists were arrested in Brazil when police smashed a network allied to ISIS that was preparing “acts of terrorism” at next month’s Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Daily Mail reported that Justice Minister Alexandre de Moraes said the operation spanned nine states across Brazil and the arrests were made in the southern states of Sao Paulo and Parana. President Michel Temer has called an emergency cabinet meeting in the wake of the arrests.
A court in Parana said there is evidence that the terror group was planning to use weapons to launch attacks similar to the ones in Paris last November. de Moraes told the press that all 12 suspects were Brazilian and that one was a minor. He added that though the suspects were “complete amateurs, and ill-prepared,” even unorganized groups must be taken seriously in this day and age.
“A few days ago they said they should start practicing martial arts, for example,” he said.
This came weeks after de Moraes said a terrorist attack on the Olympics was a “possibility” but “not a probability.”
